The Hurlers
November 2016

Willow class visited Bodmin Moor recently as part of their topic on the Stone Age, they went to see The Hurlers.  Extreme rainy weather meant that, on arriving, they went straight into the shelter of the engine house. There, they were able to learn all about the history of both The Hurlers and mining in that area. They discovered that The Hurlers was a unique arrangement of stones set out in three circles (we still don’t know why they are there!) Luckily, the weather cleared up enough for them to explore around the three circles and really get a feel for what it would have been like to have been there during those times (the weather helped with outdoor living!) As they were all a little wet they rounded off their trip with a visit to the local post office and an ice-cream. “A very big thank you to Cornwall Heritage Trust for helping us with the cost of transport for this trip.”
