This stone was erected by the St Columb Old Cornwall Society It marks the site of a Megalithic Chambered Tomb of the Neolithic Period The local name QUOIT was derived from this tomb, an impressive landmark until its destruction c1870 AD It is believed that this stone found buried close by was originally the CAPSTONE of the tomb.
