Our Artist in Residence Programme aims to champion Cornish artistic talent and create a varied collection of work inspired by the historic places we care for.
Sue Lewington – Artist in Residence 2024/25
A renowned artist and bookbinder based in Penwith, Sue’s inspiration comes from walking in Cornwall and Scilly and watching the landscape slowly change with the seasons. Her watercolour sketches of this special landscape are hugely popular, and she produces sketchbooks for publication as well as handmade artist’s books for galleries and commissions.
Lou Tonkin – Artist in Residence 2023/24
A celebrated artist and printmaker from Cornwall, Lou creates captivating artwork using traditional, craft techniques, which is beloved around the world. Her inspiration is taken almost exclusively from her local, Cornish environment and she can often be found enjoying walks in the countryside with her dog, Moth.
