Castle an Dinas ‘Hillfort Hike’

Explore the history of Cornwall’s largest and most impressive hillfort with Cornwall Heritage Trust’s Sites Officer and Archaeologist, Dick Cole.

Price: £10 per person
Located on the summit of Castle Downs near St Columb Major, this imposing hilltop monument dates from around the second and third centuries BCE. Hillforts like this are thought to have been a focus for the community, symbols of the wealth and power of the tribe, and a central place for social ceremonies, trade and ritual.
This hour-long guided walk will take you on a whistle-stop tour of the site’s fascinating history and introduce you to the myths and legends surrounding it.
This event has been part-funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The walk involves uneven ground, steps and slopes. Please wear sensible footwear and appropriate clothing.
