DESCRIPTION:Join us at Perranporth Memorial Hall for a special talk on archaeological sites associated with the name of Cornwall’s patron saint with archaeologist\, Cornwall Heritage Trust Sites Officer and Chair of the St Piran Trust\, Dick Cole.\nDate: Wednesday 25th February\nTime: 2.30pm – 4pm\nLocation: Perranporth Memorial Hall\, Wheal Leisure Close\, Perranporth\, TR6 0EY – What3Words: ///litigate.monument.mystified \nPrice: Pay as you feel (£5\, £10 or £15) \nIn this talk\, Dick explores the archaeological sites in the parish of Perranzabuloe associated with St Piran’s name\, including St Piran’s Oratory and the nearby ruined second church. \nDiscover their importance to Cornish identity as well as the findings of the excavations carried out at the two sites\, the ongoing work to protect and conserve the remains of the buildings\, and the nature of the archaeological remains across the wider area. \n \nAbout Dick\nDick worked for the Cornwall Archaeological Unit for over 15 years and is now the Sites Officer for the Cornwall Heritage Trust. He has carried out numerous archaeological projects across Cornwall\, which included the excavation of the Second Church in Perranzabuloe Parish in 2005. \nHe is chair of the St Piran Trust\, which looks after the Oratory and the medieval church. He is also involved with other heritage and cultural bodies\, including the Indian Queens Pit charity. \n \n\nThe talk is pay as you feel with tickets priced at £5\, £10 or £15. Tea\, coffee and saffron buns will be served. \nNumbers are restricted and places are available on a first-come-first-served basis. \nCornwall Heritage Trust is photographing and recording the event and may publish these photos and videos in a variety of media and online. \nThis event is in aid of Cornwall Heritage Trust. \nParking\nParking is available in the large Cornwall Council car park at the rear of hall on Wheal Leisure Road. This is free during the daytime from November to March. \nAccessibility \nThe hall has direct access to the main street in Perranporth and designated accessible toilets.
