SUMMARY:Cornwall Heritage Trust Ranger Day
DESCRIPTION:Cornwall Heritage Trust’s Ranger Days are an exciting programme of practical volunteering opportunities at our heritage sites around Cornwall. \nTaking place at Castle an Dinas near St Columb Major\, this session will involve bracken clearance. This work has been informed by an ecological survey of the site\, which was made possible by funding from the Banister Charitable Trust. \nWork such as this is a vital part of helping us protect these ancient monuments and the natural habitats that they are part of\, and we are hugely grateful for any support you can give. \nNo experience is required and support and equipment will be provided. \nAlthough we are keen to accommodate all offers to volunteer\, on some occasions we are restricted to the number of volunteers that can participate on site. Places in these instances will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. \nClick here to register your interest \nhttps://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/TheCornwallHeritageTrustLimit/volunteercastle.html

SUMMARY:Duloe Stone Circle 'Cornwall's Hedges' Guided Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join Cornwall Heritage Trust for a guided walk exploring the origins\, ecology and management of the ancient hedges surrounding Duloe Stone Circle. The walk will be led by traditional rural skills expert\, Jeremy Weiss from Proper Edges.\nLocation: Duloe Stone Circle\, Duloe\, PL14 4PN – What3Words: ///energetic.narrates.scornful \nPrice: £12 per person \nCornwall Heritage Trust members were given exclusive early access to book their places for this event and places are now extremely limited.\nThe walk will explore how and when hedges first appeared and what has happened to them since. You’ll discover the ways they support a huge variety of wildlife\, why they are important to humans\, and what management techniques are required to keep them in good shape for the future. \nThe only Cornish monument of its kind to be constructed entirely from white quartz\, Duloe Stone Circle is located at the southern end of the village of Duloe between Liskeard and Looe. It is Cornwall’s smallest known stone circle and its size compared with that of the stones is what makes the experience of visiting there so special. \nDespite much research\, stone circles are still mysterious sites. In Cornwall\, they generally date from the later third and early second millennia BCE and are believed to have been gathering places for communities. It is one of the 16 historic sites cared for by Cornwall Heritage Trust. \nAll ages are welcome to attend. \nThe walk involves uneven ground\, steps and slopes. Please wear sensible footwear and appropriate clothing. \nPlaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. \nThis event is in aid of Cornwall Heritage Trust – the small\, independent charity protecting Cornwall’s heritage for everyone.

The site came into the care of Cornwall Heritage Trust in November 2022 and was removed from the Heritage at Risk Register in November 2023. \n  \nThis event is in aid of Cornwall Heritage Trust – the small\, independent charity protecting Cornwall’s heritage for everyone.
