We believe that engaging with children and young people and inspiring them to learn about Cornwall’s heritage is one of the most important areas of our work.
Education Packs
The Trust has developed a number of educational resources across a wide range of subjects. These education packs contain valuable information about heritage sites in Cornwall and are available for teachers, students and members of the community to download from our Teaching Resources section.
We would love to hear from you if you have used our resources and found them useful, or have suggestions for additions and improvements.
School Transport Grants
In order to encourage school visits to our heritage sites, we set up a grant scheme for transport costs for primary school trips with a heritage theme. Visit Grants for School Transport, if you would like to apply for a school transport grant for your primary school to visit heritage sites within Cornwall.
Our partnership with Cornish Lithium makes this scheme possible. The grants that Cornwall Heritage Trust provide towards a school’s travel to places of heritage interest are such a valuable resource to schools, and Cornish Lithium’s support really makes a difference.
Cornwall For Ever! Kernow Bys Vyken!
In 2000 Cornwall Heritage Trust was part of a project which gave every school child in Cornwall a copy of the “Kernow Bys Vyken” or “Cornwall For Ever” book to mark the Millennium. Cornwall For Ever celebrated the story and spirit of Cornwall in an attractive format of words and pictures, and illustrated the unique history, heroes and heroines, as well as the ordinary people of Cornwall who often have had to endure conditions of great adversity. In 2016 the digital version of the book was launched, and is a fantastic website packed full of fascinating information about Cornwall’s people, places, history and year. It is a great resource specifically aimed at young people, but the young at heart will undoubtedly find it interesting too! www.cornwallforever.co.uk
Educational Films
We were delighted to have received a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to commission educational films on three of our sites: Castle an Dinas, Carn Euny and The Hurlers

Cornish Language
Go Cornish for Primary Schools is a free programme bringing the Cornish language to life both inside and outside the classroom. Go Cornish for Primary Schools, commissioned by Cornwall Council and masterminded by Golden Tree Productions, exists to give children growing up in Cornwall the opportunity to learn something of the Cornish language, and to discover the culturally rich heritage of our amazing patch of the planet. Find out more at gocornish.org
The programme provides a clear framework to celebrate the language in fun and immersive ways, requiring little time commitment and no need to speak Cornish before starting the Bronze Award.
But it’s not all about the language, as the programme also encourages schools to engage with Cornish heritage through award schemes, cross-curricular resources, and visits to our sites.
