Here are some frequently asked questions that our new Members ask:
Should I be expecting a confirmation email?
It can take up to ten minutes for your confirmation email to arrive. If you have still not received your membership confirmation after this time, please email membership@cornwallheritagetrust.org or call 01209 707008 and we will manually resend the confirmation email. Please remember to check your ‘junk’ folder just in case!
Can I use my Membership straightaway?
Yes, you can! You will receive a confirmation email that you can use a proof of purchase at the majority of our partner sites. (Geevor Tin Mine only accepts physical membership cards).
Can I pre-book online to visit English Heritage sites in Cornwall?
Due to the nature of our unique discounts, Cornwall Heritage Trust members cannot pre-book online for visits to English Heritage sites. Just show up on the day with your membership card! (Yes, even on Event Days)
What if my card doesn’t arrive before my visit?
At busy times, it can take up to two weeks for us to process your membership. If your membership card does not arrive in time for your visit to a partner site, you can show your confirmation email at the entrance as proof of membership except at Geevor Tin Mine. A physical Cornwall Heritage Trust membership card is required for 50% off admission to Geevor Tin Mine.
If I have signed up as a Family member, can I visit without children?
Of course, relax and enjoy yourselves!
If I have signed up as a Concession / Joint Concession / Adult can I visit partner sites with children?
No. Only Family Memberships and Life Memberships include children. For example, if you are a grandparent visiting a partner site with your grandchildren, you would need a Family membership even if you are aged over 65.
What age is Concession Membership?
Either 18-21, or over 65+. If you are applying for a Joint Concession, both adults must fit this criteria.
How many people can be on a Family Membership?
Two adults and up to 12 children for a 2 Adult Family, or one adult and 6 children for a 1 Adult Family. The only exception is Geevor Tin Mine where free Family entry is limited to two adults and six children (or one adult and three children).
What age is a child?
Anyone under 18.
Can I have a second card?
As standard, Joint Memberships and Joint Concession Memberships are only issued one card to share. If you’d prefer to have a card each, just let us know on your application/renewal form, or contact the Membership Team to update your contact preferences.
How much do you send by post / email?
You will receive your membership card via post. If you opt into receiving post from CHT, you will receive our bi-annual magazine through the mail (UK members only). We rarely use post for any other communication. If you opt into e-mail communications, you will receive monthly e-newsletters and updates from CHT including member exclusive opportunities such as priority booking for events. As standard, we do not phone members unless we need to clarify something on your application form.
I’ve joined Cornwall Heritage Trust but I don’t need the membership anymore, can I have a refund?
Cornwall Heritage Trust is a registered charity, and membership subscriptions help the Trust carry out their work to preserve and strengthen Cornwall’s heritage. We only offer refunds in exceptional circumstances.
I want to buy a membership as a gift.
Please visit our online shop to purchase a Gift Membership Pack or call the office on 01209 707 008.
Does Membership include free car parking?
All car parks at Cornwall Heritage Trust sites are free of charge. The majority of our partner sites have free parking (e.g. Pendennis Castle), or nearby council or private car parks (e.g. Tintagel Castle). A handful of these venues do have their own car parks (e.g. St Mawes Castle) and Cornwall Heritage Trust members are advised that they may have to pay for parking at these venues. Please contact the venue directly for any enquiries regarding parking at partner organisations.
I have a disability. What membership is right for me?
Disabled visitors are welcome to bring a carer free of charge to all CHT partner sites. Therefore, you may want to purchase an Individual Membership in your name, rather than a Joint Membership if the second adult is also your carer. Please note that only Family Memberships and Life Memberships include children. If you’re not sure what membership is right for you, feel free to get in touch with the Membership Team.
I have a question that’s not listed here.
Please contact the Membership Department by emailing your enquiry to membership@cornwallheritagetrust.org or by calling the office on 01209 707 008 and asking for the Membership Team.
