SUMMARY:Albert de Castro Glubb – A 'Pobel a Gernow' Story Café
DESCRIPTION:Tickets for this event will be available on the door.\nJoin us at Liskeard Public Hall for a specialist talk on Albert de Castro Glubb\, a solicitor who was instrumental in rescuing and protecting a number of historic sites and ancient monuments in the 1930s. \nLocation: The Main Hall\, Liskeard Public Hall\, 3-5 West St\, Liskeard\, PL14 6BW – What3Words: ///splendid.deleting.fellow \nPrice: Pay as you feel (£1\, £5 or £10) \nThis May\, the Pobel a Gernow (“People of Cornwall”) initiative is recognising the huge impact Albert de Castro Glubb had on Cornish history by installing a plaque on the house where he was born and lived for 82 years until his death. He is the first person to be recognised by the initiative. \nThe plaque will be unveiled at a small\, private ceremony which will be followed later in the day by this public talk. \nAlbert de Castro Glubb wearing the Liskeard Mayoral Chain in 1904 (Image credit – Liskeard Old Cornwall Society) \nLed by Brian Oldham\, President of Liskeard Old Cornwall Society\, and Pete Herring\, a Landscape Archaeologist and Historian\, the talk will explore the life\, achievements and and passion for Cornish heritage of de Castro Glubb and the history of some of the monuments he helped save. These include King Doniert’s Stone\, The Hurler Stone Circles and Dupath Well to name but a few.  \nKing Doniert’s Stone (Image credit – Paul Richards) \nThe talk is open to all\, and tickets are priced pay as you feel at £1\, £5 and £10. All proceeds and donations will go towards the Pobel a Gernow scheme. \nTea\, coffee and saffron buns will be served. \nPobel a Gernow is a partnership initiative of Cornwall Heritage Trust\, Gorsedh Kernow and the Federation of Old Cornwall Societies. It aims to extend the work undertaken by numerous Cornish town plaques schemes into a Cornwall-wide initiative and plans to install more plaques over the coming years. \n\n\n\n		\n				\n						\n		\n								\n			\n		\n							\n			\n				\n						\n		\n								\n			\n		\n							\n			\n				\n						\n		\n								\n			\n		\n							\n			\n	\n	\n\n	\n		\n			\n\nTickets for this event will be available on the door.
