St Mellion and St Dominic schools had lots of fun exploring The Hurlers on Bodmin Moor on a very cold and blustery day. The uniqueness of the stone circles enabled the children to carry out maths activities linked to shape and size and also use their imagination to decide whether they thought The Hurlers were in fact people turned to stone because they played hurling on a Sabbath day.
The trek up to Rillaton Barrow was a battle against the elements but the story of the Rillaton Gold cup made it all worthwhile.
Both sites have both inspired and created great learning opportunities linked to places of worship and art where they recreated The Hurlers out of clay.
A fantastic trip which has created memories to last a lifetime just like the sites themselves.
