Pupils from Gwinear School thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Caerhays castle. Initially inspired by the outside design of the ‘castle on the hill’, having begun a study of John Nash, they then listened carefully to their guides.
The stories of the building’s decline and restoration captured their imagination, especially tales of ducks swimming in flooded rooms and paper roof-structures! We are now comparing the Gothic Revival style with IM Pei, another famous architect in contemporary times.
All the children would love to visit Caerhays again, especially to find out more about its gardens.
