“Hi Cornwall Heritage Trust
Please find attached images when my year 5 class benefitted from funded coach travel to Trebah Gardens to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings. The children had a fabulous educational experience and were able to perform to a wartime inspired dance to packed outdoor auditorium.
Quotes from children:
Isobel: I loved looking at all the exhibits about Mawnan Smith when the American soldiers were embarking for the French beaches.
Rona: The dancing was brilliant. We learned some old fashioned dance moves like the Charleston.
Zach: The models of all the ships and tanks were brilliant.
Brendan: I never knew that a village so close to where I go to school was so involved in the effort to win the war
Elizabeth: It was sad to see photographs of the American GIs and know that very few of them would have made it home again.”
