Feedback from the School Staff: “We had a wonderful day right from the start of the day. The children enjoyed their journey to the castle via the bus, playing games and having some down time with their friends.
On arrival, we had a workshop on the history of Pendennis Castle and why it was built. We all experienced different roles in the castle from Henry VIII to Pot Boys and Gunners. We explored different artifacts used in Tudor times and compared them to what we use for living today.
The children were absolutely fascinated with exploring the tops of the castles, looking out at different viewpoints pretending to witness the King of Spain and France entering the estuary. We found cannons, sketched parts of the castles and had fun on the fields.
It was so lovely to see all the children experiencing a learning-rich opportunity outside of school but also having lots of fun whilst doing so. They came back inspired and full of knowledge and this has been evident in their writing. Below are some comments from the children based on their day:”
“I really enjoyed our day trip to Pendennis castle because we got to see the inside of the castle and go straight to the top. When we got to the top it was windy and scary but really, really fun.”
“I liked wearing different clothes that they wore in Tudor times. I dressed up as a Pot Boy and I think that is what I would want to be if I lived in those times.”
Thank you for a wonderful trip.
