Lanner Primary School visit to Kresen Kernow
On Thursday 25th November, Y6 from Lanner Primary School went on a school trip to Kresen kernow. As a class, we enjoyed discovering the strong-room and what it contained. Furthermore, inside the archive we discovered a book written in Latin which is Cornwall’s oldest book (1000 years old)! From discovering this, I can acknowledge that the oldest book goes to Redruth and then back to London for a year but unfortunately they do not showcase the book where they hold it in the archive back in London- we were really lucky to view it! On the first floor there are many letters and other sources- these were interesting to read. At the end of our tour, we were handed a quiz with many sources to look at. Thank you, it was a brilliant trip!

On Thursday 25th November 2021, me and my class went on a trip to Redruth history museum (Kresen Kernow) we explored the strong rooms – holding thousands of archived sources – viewed Cornwall’s oldest book ,900 AD, and took part in a WW2 workshop. I have learned lots of things from this trip and I really loved it. My favourite part would have to be either looking in the strong rooms or looking in the sealed room with the 1000 year old book. We also loved reading and identifying all the primary sources- we certainly learned a lot from this trip!
