The Magpies class visited the Maritime Museum on 14th October 2021 as part of our learning about the Vikings.
They had an amazing time. We looked at the artefacts that would have been used by the Vikings and discussed these in detail. We then went on to look at a map of the world, locating where the Vikings invaded and settled. It was great for the children to look at and locate Cornwall on the map, linking this learning to the history and heritage of Cornwall.
The children then went on to look at how the Vikings traded goods. They took part in practical activities for this, exchanging goods and even making their own stamped silver coin!
We completed our morning by steering and controlling Viking longboats! This really brought our topic and learning to life.
