“Our current topic is Ancient Egypt, so we went for a very special Egyptian workshop where we learnt about mummification, saw a real mummy and a mummified cat! Whilst at the museum, we looked at Cornwall’s archaeological history and compared it to that of Ancient Egypt. The children were enthralled with our Cornish history and drew lots of links and similarities to that of Ancient Egypt.”
“We were very luck to also see the ‘Adrift – Lego Lost at Sea’ exhibition… In 1997, a rogue wave knocked 62 containers from a cargo ship off the coast of Cornwall. Five million pieces of Lego were set adrift in the ocean, washing up on beaches across the southwest. Adrift – Lego Lost at Sea is the story of what was lost and what was learned about the ocean, its currents and pollution. This was very relatable as we see plastic pollution daily on our local beach.”
“It was a fabulous trip that the class thoroughly enjoyed and aided their learning! We would like to say a big thank you to Cornwall Heritage for helping assist with the transport and for making this trip possible!”
This trip was made possible by Cornwall Heritage Trust’s School Transport Grants Scheme. This academic year’s grants are provided in partnership with Cornish Lithium.
