Year 3 from Probus school were delighted to visit the Iron Age settlement of Carn Euny and Penlee museum in Penzance. It was fascinating to learn even more about Cornwall’s pre-historic past in such a hands on way! A huge thank you to Cornwall Heritage Trust for the transport grant for this wonderful trip.
Fifi, Year 3
Thank you for the wonderful experience. We went to Carn Euny for our school trip. The fogou was the best bit for me because I had a wonderful time exploring. We went into groups with one of the teachers each. One of the groups was looking at architecture and the other groups were taking pictures and drawing in the fogou but don’t worry they didn’t draw on the walls! We think one of the houses was more recent than all of the others because this house had a square shape and a wooden window. We also went to Penlee museum which is about twenty minutes from the settlement. At the museum, we explored lots of artefacts from the Bronze Age and Iron Age. Thank you!

Thank you. We learnt so much. On this trip we explored Carn Euny it really was a once in a lifetime trip. I couldn’t believe my eyes. First, we looked at the fogou. The fogou was a sight to behold. Then, the settlement. It may look like a pile of stone but it used to be a bustling settlement. Thanks for making the buses cheaper for us! We also went to Penlee museum. The second we got there, my heart sprang a mile. It was really fun.
Matthew, Year 3
Thank you for the money for the bus to Carn Euny. I really appreciate it. We went to a settlement and Penlee museum and we had lots of fun there. I saw lots interesting things from the Bronze Age and Iron Age. We saw axe heads and it was the best day of school in my life.
