“We really enjoyed looking around the castle and pretending we had travelled back in time! We loved looking at all of the sites surrounding the castle and learning more about St Mawes in our workshop with Jayne. The children were able to spot different defensive features such as battlements and arrow slits as we looked around and talk about how they were used. We got to dress up in different costumes and talk about the people who used to live there. We learnt about the Governor and how he had lots of power and wealth. We decided we wouldn’t like to be the pot boy as it was too much work!”
“I liked looking at the cannons and pretending to shoot ships.”
“I liked being on the roof because we were so high!”
“I liked going up the spiral staircases and pretending to be a knight.”
This trip was made possible by Cornwall Heritage Trust’s School Transport Grants Scheme. This academic year’s grants are provided in partnership with Cornish Lithium.
