Over the last five years, Cornwall Heritage Trust has been fortunate to be able to grow and evolve with the benefit of external funding. This is a brand-new role which would suit an experienced fundraiser with the enthusiasm and expertise to manage the fundraising activity throughout the charity to enable it to achieve its charitable objectives and continue its strategy of growth.
We are looking for someone to create strategies for sustainable funding and secure grants to provide multi-year funding and core cost recovery. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record of successful bid writing in a senior position and experience of delivering against KPIs.
But more than this, they will work collaboratively with the team and external partners to enable innovative and imaginative projects to happen so that Cornwall’s heritage is preserved and strengthened.
Key Responsibilities
Funding
- Research and identify key potential funders who may support the work of the Trust
- Write compelling applications that tell the story of our work and clearly communicate the outcomes, impact and legacy of the project
- Create persuasive and focused cases for support
- Oversee and develop a researched pipeline of grant, trust and foundations applications, increasing the amount of unrestricted income raised from these sources
- Liaise with the Finance Manager and Marketing and Communications Officer to support the income generation programme
- Ensure deadlines are met for reporting and claims
Strategy
- Support key stakeholders and colleagues to develop and deliver a fundraising strategy and wide-ranging action plan that will meet the needs of the charity
- Contribute to the diversification of income generation to create a balanced mix across Trusts & Foundations, major donors, community fundraising and corporate sponsorship
- Ensure compliance with the Code of Fundraising Practice and relevant regulations including those covering fundraising and GDPR, for example
- Create persuasive cases for support based on the Trust’s strategic plan and business development plan
Partnerships
- Build positive relationships with colleagues and external partners to enable collaborative creation of projects and funding applications
- Maintain relationships with funders, supporters, donors and stakeholders
- Create a stewardship programme for major donors
General
- Liaise with the engagement and marketing teams to ensure consistency of message throughout external and internal communications
- Ensure accuracy of record keeping to aid impact reporting, claims submissions and evaluation statistics
- Utilise the CRM database to maintain accurate donor and funder records
- Line manage the Fundraising Officer and other team members as appropriate
- Ensure all fundraising literature and promotional material is up to date and compliant

Process
Shortlisting will take place shortly after the deadline date and shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview, which is expected to take place on the week commencing Monday 16th June. All applications will be acknowledged and the outcome advised in due course.
