This memorial stone is sited to honour the lives of the crew of FERRY FLIGHT No 1 AIRCRAFT DELIVERY UNIT from RAF Portreath to Malta. Which crashed here on 24th July 1942. The aircraft was a BRISTOL BEAUFORT FIGHTER BOMBER with a crew of four who all lost their lives. 778335 Flt Sgt J C Atkinson.
