AD 1921 This ancient baptistry with adjoining lands was presented by Rear Admiral Sir Charles John Graves Sawle, Baronet RNMVO (of Penrice) to the Churchwardens of the Parish of St Austell to be preserved by them as Trustees for the inhabitants of the Parish. In memory of his only son RICHARD CHARLES GRAVES SAWLE Eaquire Lieutenant of the Coldstream Regiment of Footguards who was killed in action at Ypres, Belgium on the 2nd November 1914
