This year marks Cornwall Heritage Trust’s 40th anniversary and, to celebrate, we’re looking for 40 people to join as Life Members and make protecting Cornwall’s heritage their legacy.
By becoming a Life Member of Cornwall Heritage Trust, you’ll be helping keep Cornwall’s most special historic places safe and free for now and forever, for one and all. Your support will help ensure that our charity can keep growing for the next 40 years and many more to come.
As a thank you for your generosity, you’ll also enjoy a lifetime of benefits. These range from free and discounted entry to a wealth of historic sites and museums to early access booking for our sell-out heritage events.
If you’re one of the 40 to join in our celebration year, you will also receive a limited edition 40th anniversary St Justin pin badge and inclusion of your name on a Life Members’ Roll of Honour, which will be showcased at a wide range of Cornwall Heritage Trust events including our members’ day, annual heritage champion awards and Awenek heritage festival.
“Can we afford to stand aside any longer and allow Cornwall’s heritage to disappear before our very eyes? Please think about this and join the fight for your heritage.”
Robert Elliot, First President of Cornwall Heritage Trust
The difference Life Membership can make to Cornwall’s heritage!
The Crib Hut near Treffry Viaduct was being pulled apart by invasive foliage and vegetation when it was uncovered in September 2019. Thanks to the support of 15 new Life Members, it was made structurally sound in August 2022 and its legacy ensured for future generations.
The building is thought to have been used by tramway workers to provide shelter for them to rest in during breaks. Inside, you can see the remains of a fireplace and a window, and you can imagine there would be a couple of wooden benches on either side where the workers might have sat. Part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site as designated by UNESCO, Treffry Viaduct is an internationally-important part of our mining heritage. The Crib Hut is a vital part of that story.
This is just one example of the impact our Life Members have on our charitable work.
