This guided walk will help you learn about the wide range of flora surrounding this historic monument and will take you on a journey to discover the variety of trees the Luxulyan Valley is home to. The walk will be led by Cornwall Heritage Trust’s Countryside Ranger Apprentice, James.
Located near St Austell, this 19th-century viaduct was designed to carry both a tramway and a high-level water channel (known as a leat) across the Luxulyan Valley for local mining entrepreneur, Joseph Thomas Treffry. Once a hive of industrial activity, the site has very much been reclaimed by nature and is home to a wealth of flora, fauna and historic remains.
The walk involves uneven ground, steps and slopes. Please wear sensible footwear and appropriate clothing.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
This event has been part-funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This event is in aid of Cornwall Heritage Trust – the small, independent charity protecting Cornwall’s heritage for everyone.
