Hedgerow and Grassland Foraging Workshop

Join experienced forager and environmental educator Vix Ryder of Wild Edge for a guided exploration of the plants, trees and wild foods found in Cornwall’s hedgerows and grasslands.

Parking: Parking at the site is very limited however overflow parking is available in the field of the site.
Age restriction: Participants must be aged 16 and over.
Price: £35 per person
Taking place at the historic setting of Trethevy Quoit, this three-hour workshop will introduce you to the edible landscape around us, helping you develop the skills and confidence to identify a variety of common wild species safely and responsibly.
This small group workshop is limited to just 15 participants. Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
What you’ll learn
During this hands-on workshop, Vix will cover:
- How to safely identify a range of edible hedgerow and grassland plants
- Responsible and sustainable foraging practices
- The seasonal availability of wild foods
- Traditional and modern uses for common wild species
- Practical tips for harvesting and preparing wild ingredients at home
Along the way, you’ll also discover how Cornwall’s landscapes have provided food and resources for local communities for generations, offering a fresh perspective on the heritage and ecology of the countryside around us.

Vix Ryder is the founder of Wild Edge, a South East Cornwall-based environmental education and foraging business dedicated to reconnecting people with the natural world. Through guided foraging walks, wild food experiences, talks and community projects, Vix encourages people to rediscover the value of our hedgerows, coastlines, woodland edges and “wild” spaces – not only for biodiversity, but for food, wellbeing, history and cultural connection.

- This event will involve walking on rough, uneven ground. Sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing are essential.
